Fluctuating temperature regime impairs growth in giant gourami (Osphronemus goramy) larvae

چکیده

Growth and physiology were compared in giant gourami (Osphronemus goramy) larvae reared constant (25, 30, 35 °C) daily fluctuating (25–35 temperature regimes. Larvae aged eight days post-hatching indoors for 21 four closed recirculating systems (four aquaria per system) the different Samples of collected every week from each regime growth measurements. At end experiment, cortisol glucose concentrations, as well oxygen consumption ventilation rates, determined fish regime. Results showed that did not affect survival or abnormality, but significantly impaired larvae. Physiological responses, assessed using levels consumption, corroborate previous findings, suggesting a stable 30 °C is optimal rearing Our experimental approach demonstrated variations observed larval structures on small-scale farms are likely to impair production fry.

Draft Genome Sequences of Citrobacter freundii Strains CF04 and A41 Isolated from Moribund, Septicemic Giant Gourami (Osphronemus goramy) in Sri Lanka

Citrobacter freundii is a Gram-negative opportunistic pathogen associated with many infectious conditions including septicemia in humans and animals. Here, we announce the draft genome sequences of two multidrug-resistant C. freundii strains (CF04 and A41) isolated from septicemic giant gourami (Osphronemus goramy) collected from aquaria in Sri Lanka.

In vitro investigations on extracellular proteins secreted by Aphanomyces invadans, the causative agent of epizootic ulcerative syndrome

BACKGROUND Proteases produced by many microorganisms, including oomycetes, are crucial for their growth and development. They may also play a critical role in disease manifestation. Epizootic ulcerative syndrome is one of the most destructive fish diseases known. It is caused by the oomycete Aphanomyces invadans and leads to mass mortalities of cultured and wild fish in many countries. The area...

miR-9a mediates the role of Lethal giant larvae as an epithelial growth inhibitor in Drosophila

Drosophila lethal giant larvae (lgl) encodes a conserved tumor suppressor with established roles in cell polarity, asymmetric division, and proliferation control. Lgl's human orthologs, HUGL1 and HUGL2, are altered in human cancers, however, its mechanistic role as a tumor suppressor remains poorly understood. Based on a previously established connection between Lgl and Fragile X protein (FMRP)...

Giant Nernst effect due to fluctuating cooper pairs in superconductors.

A theory of the fluctuation-induced Nernst effect is developed for a two-dimensional superconductor in a perpendicular magnetic field. First, we derive a simple phenomenological formula for the Nernst coefficient, which naturally explains the giant Nernst signal due to fluctuating Cooper pairs. The latter signal is shown to be large even far from the transition and may exceed by orders of magni...

Giant proximity effect in a phase-fluctuating superconductor.

When a tunneling barrier between two superconductors is formed by a normal material that would be a superconductor in the absence of phase fluctuations, the resulting Josephson effect can undergo an enormous enhancement. We establish this novel proximity effect by a general argument as well as a numerical simulation and argue that it may underlie recent experimental observations of the giant pr...
